In the April 16, 1996, issue of the Journal of Oral Pathology and Medicine, an article entitled "Sensitivity and Specificity of OraScan Toluidine Blue Mouthrinse in the Detection of Oral Cancer and Precancer," reported that the oral squamous cell carcinomas were "detected with a 100 percent sensitivity using the OraScan rinse with 1 percent toluidine blue as the active ingredient."
