Active HHV-6 infections following BMT were observed often in a prospective study, reported Madhavi P. Kadakia, University of Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and colleagues ("Human Herpesvirus 6: Infection and Disease following Autologous and Allogeneic Bone Marrow Transplantation," Blood, June 15, 1996;87(12:5341-5354).
Researchers from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Atlanta, Georgia, also participated in the study.
