Granulomatous Hepatitis Due to B. Henselae Reported

Researchers from the University of California at San Francisco report the case of a cancer patient with granulomatous hepatitis and necrotizing splenitis due to Bartonella henselae.

Bartonella (previously Rochalimaea) infection often appears as skin lesions known as bacillary angiomatosis (BA) but may affect the liver (bacillary peliosis hepatitis; BP) and spleen (bacillary splenitis) in both immunocompromised and immunocompetent persons.
