Overexpression of Metalloproteinases-2 Inhibits Tumor Growth

Tumor growth and invasion is inhibited by retroviral-mediated gene transfer of the protease inhibitor gene of metalloproteinases-2.

Innovative cancer therapies over the past few years have progressed to include genetic manipulation. Approaches have included the delivery of cytotoxic genes, such as the herpes simplex-thymidine kinase suicide gene; the delivery of tumor suppressor genes; and the delivery of immunostimulatory cytokine genes.
