BRCA2 Mutation Analysis To Hereditary Cancer Testing Service Introduced

OncorMed, Inc., Gaithersburg, Maryland, announced that on August 1, 1996, it began offering a genetic testing service for mutations found in the recently discovered BRCA2 gene that lead to inherited breast, ovarian and other cancers.

Physicians are able to order OncorMed's BRCA2 test in combination with its already existing BRCA1 test, or as a separate service. The testing service is available to people at high risk for inherited breast cancer based on family history.
