Most Cancer Patients Are Wary of Estrogen Replacement

In the selection of participants for a study of estrogen replacement therapy in women with a history of localized breast cancers, interviewers found that women in this group "... harbor considerable reluctance regarding [estrogen replacement therapy] for the management of menopausal health concerns."

Dr. Rena Vassilopoulou-Sellin and Mary Jean Klein interviewed 137 women who met criteria for the study. They report that one-third of those women were apprehensive about the previously reported risks associated with hormone therapy.

Vassilopoulou-Sellin and colleague found that 17 percent of the women interviewed were willing to enroll in the study. ...
