"HIV Associated Kaposi's Sarcoma in a Predominantly African American Population: A Ten Year Experience."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 36th Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, held September 15-18, 1996, in New Orleans, Louisiana, "Epidemic Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) is the most common malignancy associated with HIV. This disease has been described primarily in white, homosexual men. However, the epidemiology of AIDS is changing, and HIV infection rates are sharply rising in minority population and women in the USA. We evaluated clinical and demographic features of KS pt. diagnosed at Howard University between 2/85 and 6/95. A total of 73 pt. were evaluated. The median age was 32.4 years and there were 67 males and 6 females: 66 (90%)...
