According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 9th annual meeting of the American Society of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology, held October 10-12, 1996, in Chicago, Illinois, "Pulmonary infections caused by atypical mycobacteria are an increasingly common problem particularly in patients with impaired immunity. Herein we report a case of now a ten year old boy with acute Lymphoblastic leukemia who developed pneumonia five months after the completion of his three years of chemotherapy.
