Thalidomide Clinical Trials Expanded To Treat Cancer

EntreMed Inc., Rockville, Maryland, and the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI), Bethesda, Maryland, announced expansion of the number of brain cancer patients under observation in NCI-sponsored Phase II clinical trials using thalidomide treatment.

The collaborative clinical trials agreement, established in 1995 between the two organizations and Bristol-Myers Squibb Co., was designed to study the anticancer effects of thalidomide in breast, prostate, and brain cancer, as well as Kaposi's sarcoma (KS).
