Targeted Energy in Gene Therapy To Combat Cancer

Varian Associates, Inc., announced that Varian Biosynergy, Inc., has entered into a multi-year research agreement with the University of Arizona to pursue cancer cures jointly by combining targeted energy with gene therapy.

According to Robert M. Sutherland, Varian Biosynergy, the project builds on preliminary gene research by specialists at the university's Arizona Cancer Center to determine how targeted heat, produced by ultrasound or microwave energies, can enhance gene activity in cancer treatment.
