Center Offers Genetic Testing for Cancer Genes

Women who are concerned about hereditary breast cancer may receive genetic counseling and testing through a program offered at the University of California at San Francisco (UCSF) Cancer Center.

The program is part of a study led by breast cancer specialists Laura Esserman, M.D., and Debu Tripathy, M.D., and is one of the first in the Bay Area to offer extensive patient counseling and testing for the BRCA1 and BRCA2 genes that are linked to inherited breast and ovarian cancer.
