Vaccine Poses No Risk Says Canadian Expert

Concerns about the risk of developing cancer from a virus called SV40, that may have been present in early forms of polio vaccines, are unfounded, said Dr. Ron Gold, The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, and author of "Your Child's Best Shot: A Parent's Guide to Immunization."

"First, the current polio vaccines are free of SV40," said Gold. "They have been since 1963.
