A team of its scientists has successfully introduced a large intact human DNA segment containing the majority of the human antibody-producing genes into the company's genetically modified mice (XenoMouse mice strain). While Cell Genesys and others have previously described the introduction of smaller portions of human antibody genes, the Abgenix team is the first to introduce the majority of the human genes, approximately 80 percent, that are responsible for diverse antibody production.
