Transgenic Production of Antibodies Announced

Genzyme Transgenics Corp., Framingham, Massachusetts, announced that it has successfully demonstrated high level expression of a therapeutic monoclonal antibody in the milk of transgenic goats and that antigen binding levels are equivalent to material produced using conventional, cell culture technology.

The data were announced at the Therapeutic Transgenics Conference, held in West Palm Beach, Florida, where the company also announced that it has demonstrated high-efficiency purification results in a second monoclonal antibody, using a process that has broad application to other antibodies.
