According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Fifth International Conference on Gene Therapy of Cancer, held November 14-16, 1996, in San Diego, California, "Gastric cancer is one of the major human malignancies with poor prognosis in eastern Asia. As increase in carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is noted in about 30% of patients with gastric cancer, adenovirus-mediated gene therapy against human CEA-producing gastric cancer was investigated.
