Canarypox Virus-Mediated Immunotherapy: Success In Vivo

Canarypox virus (ALVAC) has potential as a cancer gene therapy vector as it does not replicate in infected mammalian cells. Mutsushi Kawakita and colleagues tested the potential anticancer immunotherapeutic effects of ALVAC vectors carrying sequences that encoded cytokines in a murine model ("Effect of Canarypox Virus (ALVAC)-Mediated Cytokine Expression on Murine Prostate Tumor Growth," Journal of the National Cancer Institute, March 19, 1997;89(6):428-36).
