"Retractile Mesenteritis in HIV Patient."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Ninth Symposium on HIV Infection entitled From Virology ... To Therapy, held March 6-8, 1997, in Toulon, France, "Retractile mesenterilis is a rare disorder characterized by either focal or diffuse thickening of the mesentery due to chronic inflammation and fibrosis. Retractile mesenteritis is mainly a disease of late adulthood. It presents as recurrent episodes of crampy abdominal pain, either localized or generalized, with weight loss, nausea, vomiting, and low-grade fever, rarely, signs of acute abdomen may be present. Tissue exam reveals infiltration of the affected mesentery by a dense collagen and fibrous tissue...
