Breakthrough Advances in In Vitro Diagnostics Analyzed

Progress has been made in understanding the biochemical and genetic changes that occur in cells as cancer develops.

Nonetheless, with the exception of the PSA marker, current in vitro cancer diagnostic products cannot identify cancer early enough. There remains considerable need for improved tests to detect cancer cells, and for tests specific enough to detect changes in cancer cells that may determine treatment protocols and prognosis.
