Foundation Angered By Lack of Attention and Research Funding for Too-Common Disease

The Canadian Prostate Cancer Foundation, which represents thousands of patients, families, and health professionals, is outraged by the lack of funding and attention being paid this killer by governments. The most recent example, says the Foundation, is the Ontario government's announcement of $16.5 million in funding and the creation of Cancer Care Ontario. Of the $16.5 million, $200,000 has been allocated to the development of clinical practice guidelines, of which some will be used to develop guidelines for PSA (Prostate Specific Antigen) testing for prostate cancer.
