Nisin Evaluated for Antibiotic-Resistant Infections Treatment

AMBI Inc., Tarrytown, New York, announced results of a human study demonstrating that Nisin was successfully delivered orally, in tablet form, to the colon.

"The results of this study represent a major milestone in the development of nisin, which may have the potential to be the first peptide that can be taken orally as a treatment for a serious infectious disease of the colon," said George A. Digenis, Ph.D., University of Kentucky, who collaborated on the study design.
