According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the meeting Vector Targeting Strategies for Therapeutic Gene Delivery, held March 14-16, 1997, in Cold Spring Harbor, New York, "Towards the goal of targetable injectable retroviral vectors, we are developing envelope engineering strategies to modify the host range properties of amphotropic retroviral vectors. Several different polypeptides have been displayed on amphotropic retroviral vectors as N-terminal extensions of the 4070A SU envelope glycoprotein.
