According to the authors' abstract of an article published in Molecular Pharmacology, "Progressive hypocholesterolemia is a feature associated with a number of cancers of different origin, and it is caused by the high expression of low-density lipoprotein (LDL) receptors (LDLrs) on many tumor cell types. Selective delivery of chemotherapeutics using LDL as a carrier has therefore been proposed, but the endogenous nature of LDL hampers its pharmaceutical application.
