Prostate Cancer Surgery System Receives Market Clearance

UroMed Corporation, Needham, Massachusetts, announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has cleared for U.S. marketing and distribution UroMed's nerve locating product, the CaverMap Surgical Aid.

For patients diagnosed with localized prostate cancer, the gold standard treatment is radical surgery. The most frequent complication of this life saving surgery is impotence, often caused by intraoperative damage to nerves. The CaverMap Surgical Aid is intended to guide surgeons in mapping and ultimately sparing cavernous nerves which are responsible for potency.
