According to an abstract submitted by the author to the 3rd European Conference on Gene Therapy of Cancer, held September 11-13, 1997, in Berlin, Germany, "We are studying the functional role of costimulatory molecules B7-1 and B7-2 in the induction of specific anti tumor immune response. Transfection of these molecules in some murine tumor cell lines is sufficient to induce both protective and therapeutic anti tumor immunity in syngeneic animals. To bypass the problem of transfection of tumor cells, we have produced human soluble B7-1 and B7-2 as fusion protein with the constant region of human IgG1, IgG3 and IgM.
