"Induction of Tumour Rejection By B7.1 and IL-2 Expressing Tumour Cells."
November 24th, 1997
According to an abstract submitted by the author to the 3rd European Conference on Gene Therapy of Cancer, held September 11-13, 1997, in Berlin, Germany, "Vaccination with genetically modified tumour cells expressing both IL-2 and the immune co-stimulatory molecule B7.1 can induce immune-mediated rejection of the modified cells, in murine models. More importantly, distant subcutaneous vaccination with lethally irradiated B7.1/IL-2 expressing cells can induce the rejection of established tumours. Efficient induction of tumour rejection depends on the presence of IL-2 at the site of vaccination and cannot be substituted by systemic administration of IL-2. The vaccination induced...
