According to an abstract submitted by the author to the 3rd European Conference on Gene Therapy of Cancer, held September 11-13, 1997, in Berlin, Germany, "Methods: A) Experimental Protocol: We established a RT-PCR technique by using MUC-I, P19 Cytokeratine primers on MCF 7 cell line, in order to detect up to ten cells on only 10 ml of blood. The direct extraction of the RNA from the MCF 7 cells was done by using a Dynal Kit (mRNA direct Kit). B) Clinical Protocol: We applied this technique to a clinical study carried out on 31 patients with breast cancer versus 5 healthy blood donors (including two males) as negative controls.
