British Patent Issued for BRCA2 Gene Sequence Coding

Oncormed, Inc., Gaithersburg, Maryland, Cancer Research Campaign Technology (CRCT), London, United Kingdom, and Duke University, Durham, North Carolina, announced that they have been granted a patent by the U.K. Patent Office for the full-length coding sequence of the BRCA2 gene. CRCT and Duke patent rights include pharmaceutical compositions, diagnostic methods, and a method for producing the BRCA2 polypeptide. Oncormed holds an exclusive, worldwide license to the BRCA2 gene patent for diagnostic services and products, and has agreed to share in any revenues generated from therapeutic licenses.
