Sensor May Prevent Impotence After Prostate Operation

Prostate cancer surgeons soon can buy a new machine that will warn them - with loud beeps - before they cut into nerves that could leave a patient impotent. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved UroMed Corp.'s CaverMap as the first aid for surgeons in detecting nerves that are vital to sexual function. Now the big question is whether using the machine will help doctors lower rates of this traumatic side-effect of prostate surgery.
