Alterations to Adenovirus Increase Gene Transfer Ability



November 24th, 1997

Modifications to the adenovirus (Ad) fiber coat protein produces Ad vectors with increased in vitro and in vivo gene transfer abilities.

Thomas J. Wickham and colleagues from the University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and GenVec, Inc., Maryland, collaborated on the development of Ad vectors with increased delivery efficiency to targeted tissues ("Increased In Vitro and In Vivo Gene Transfer by Adenovirus Vectors Containing Chimeric Fiber Proteins," Journal of Virology, November 1997;71(11):8221-29).
