Clearance Received To Initiate Head/Neck Cancer Trials in Canada

Genetronics Biomedical Ltd., Toronto, Ontario, Canada, announced it has received Canadian Health Protection Board clearance to initiate multi-center Phase II clinical trials in Canada utilizing its proprietary electroporation therapy to treat patients with squamous cell carcinoma of the head and neck who have failed conventional therapies.

Electroporation therapy uses electric fields generated by the Genetronics proprietary MedPulser to open momentary pores in human cells that allow more efficient entrance of an anti-tumor drug previously injected into the tumor. Genetronics believes preliminary data shows that very low dosages of the drug, Bleomycin, can be effective...
