"Expression of v-cyclin D protein may be involved in the pathogenesis of Kaposi's sarcoma by promoting cell proliferation," wrote Monica A. Davis, Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, and colleagues ("Expression of Human Herpesvirus 8-Encoded Cyclin D in Kaposi's Sarcoma Spindle Cells," Journal of the National Cancer Institute, December 17, 1997;89:1868-1874).
The protein may represent a target for therapeutic intervention, the authors indicated.
