Medicare Reimburses Cancer Patients for Kytril Tablets

SmithKline Beecham, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, announced that its antiemetic Kytril Tablets (granisetron hydrochloride) are reimbursed by Medicare for use with all oral and intravenous chemotherapies.

Kytril Tablets are indicated for the prevention of chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting in cancer patients. Until 1998, Medicare patients were only reimbursed for oral antiemetics administered with select oral chemotherapies.

Kytril Tablets are one of the few oral medications reimbursed by Medicare in a hospital outpatient setting or physician's office. This change is especially significant since the majority of cancer patients receive...
