PBPC Transplantation Supports Dose Intensive Chemo in Children

Peripheral blood progenitor cell (PBPC) transplantation reduces the number of hospital days for children and young adults who receive dose intensive chemotherapy (CT) for metastatic sarcomas.

Douglas Hawkins, representing colleagues from the Children's Hospital and Regional Medical Center, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, and Deaconess Hospital, Washington, and the Riley Hospital for Children, Indiana, presented data showing improvements in treatment-related morbidity in this young cohort (abstract "Peripheral Blood Progenitor Cell Supported Dose Intensive Chemotherapy for Metastatic Sarcomas in Children and Young Adults").
