Thalidomide Safe for Use in AIDS-Related Kaposi's Sarcoma

Results of a Phase I trial in Argentina demonstrated that thalidomide (T) is safe for use in AIDS-related Kaposi's sarcoma (KS) patients.

Pedro Politi, representing colleagues from the University of Buenos Aires Medical School, Argentina, and the South American Office for Anticancer Drug Development, Brazil, explained why the group tested T as a therapy for KS at the 34th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, held May 16-19, 1998, in Los Angeles, California (abstract "Phase I Trial of Thalidomide in AIDS-Related Kaposi's Sarcoma").
