According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 80th Annual Meeting of The Endocrine Society, held June 24-27, 1998, in New Orleans, Louisiana, "We and others have shown previously that the human androgen receptor contains 2 race specific polymorphisms in the N-terminal transcriptional activation domain. One polymorphism is a triplet repeat encoding polyglutamine that, on average, is shorter in Americans of African descent compared to Americans of Caucasian extraction.
