Pancytopenia Is Undesired Side Effect of Lymphocyte Infusions

Although donor lymphocyte infusions containing large numbers of T lymphocytes effectively induced a graft-versus-leukemia reaction, pancytopenia occurred in some patients, researchers indicated.

Donor lymphocyte infusions (DLI) are an effective treatment for leukemia relapse after allogeneic bone marrow transplantation. Undesired side-effects are the development of graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) and the occurrence of pancytopenia in certain patients.
