Antigen-Specific T-Cell Expansion Broad Patent Issuance Announced

Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center, Seattle, Washington, and Targeted Genetics Corp. announced that they have received notification from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office regarding the issuance of a patent entitled, "Rapid Expansion Method ("REM") for in vitro Propagation of T Lymphocytes."

The patent covers technology to expand antigen-specific T cells for use in adoptive immunotherapy, which has the potential to treat diseases such as cancer and viral infections.

The process covered by the patent enables large numbers of antigen-specific T cells (CD4+ or CD8+ T lymphocytes) to be produced from an initially very small number of such cells. ...
