"Sexual and Marital Aspects of Cancer: Research, Assessment and Treatment."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 8th International Congress on Infectious Diseases, held May 15-18, 1998, in Boston, Massachusetts, "In this paper, we have examined many variables relating to the sexual and marital aspects of cancer. The female cancer patient faces a higher probability of sexual difficulties following cancer treatment. Radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery have an effect on sexual functioning. In general, we find less signs of sexual excitement, more difficulty in achieving orgasm as well as frequent reports of pain during or following intercourse.
