GBV-C Common in Kids Treated for ALL

There was a high rate of hepatitis GB virus type C infection in a group of children treated for acute lymphoblastic leukemia, but patients often lost GBV-C infection over time.

The purpose of the study conducted by M. Arico and colleagues from Italy's IRCCS Policlinico San Matteo was to determine the prevalence of GB virus type C (GBV-C) infection in children treated for childhood acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) or non-Hodgkin's lymphoma ("GB Virus Type C Infection in Patients Treated for Childhood Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia," Transfusion, February 1999;39(2):212-217).
