Patient-Reported Pain Has Prognostic Significance

Overall quality of life (QOL) is not as accurate as patient reported pain as a prognostic indicator in patients with advanced lung cancer.

J.E. Herndon and colleagues from Duke University, North Carolina, examined prognostic indicators in patients with advanced nonsmall cell lung carcinoma ("Is Quality of Life Predictive of the Survival of Patients with Advanced Nonsmall Cell Lung Carcinoma'," Cancer, January 15, 1999;85(2):333-340).
