NY-ESO-1 Expression Could Be Exploited for Immunotherapy

NY-ESO-1 gene expression may be a viable lung cancer immunotherapy target.

L. Lee and colleagues from the U.S. National Cancer Institute, Bethesda, Maryland, evaluated the frequency of NY-ESO-1 expression in cultured lung cancer cells to determine if this cancer-testis antigen could be presented for recognition by an HLA-restricted cytolytic T-cell clone specific for NY-ESO-1 ("NY-ESO-1 May Be a Potential Target for Lung Cancer Immunotherapy," Cancer Journal from Scientific American, January-February 1999;5(1):20-25).
