Dioxin Exposure Linked to Cancer

Cancer mortality increased by 60 percent for chemical workers who were exposed to high levels of dioxin, but levels of the chemical typically found in the environment appear to present no increased cancer risk, a study shows.

In research published in the May 5, 1999, issue of the Journal of the National Cancer Institute, an analysis of the health records of workers exposed to various levels of dioxin showed that only those at the highest exposures had statistically significant increases in cancer death.
