According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the conference Acute Leukemias VIII: Prognostic Factors and Treatment Strategies, held February 27 - March 3, 1999, in Munster, Germany, "Different modes of in vitro activation of peripheral blood, bone marrow, and leukapheresis-derived mononuclear cells (MNC) were compared for their effect on cell expansion. MNC were cultured in media containing fetal calf serum (FCS) and activated by short-term exposure to the mitogen phytohemagglutinin (PHA; 2-50 (mu)g/ml) or the CD3 complex (OKT3; 10-30 ng/ml) in the presence of different concentrations of rhIL-2 (25-1000 U/ml).
