"Influence of Vancomycin-Resistant Enterococcus (VRE) on the Outcome of Recipients of Bone Marrow Transplants."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the 35th Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, held May 15-18, 1999, in Atlanta, Georgia, "We undertook a retrospective analysis of 56 recipients of allogeneic or autologous bone marrow transplants (BMT) during a three-year period between 1/93 and 12/96, and who also had infections with vancomycin-resistant Enterococcus (VRE) pre-transplant or within 120 days post-transplant. The median patient age was 22 years (range 3 mo-60 y).
