Active Specific Immunotherapy Mediates Tumor Regression

Active specific immunotherapy with an autologous tumor vaccine, combined with recombinant granulocyte macrophage-colony stimulating factor (GM-CSF), either with or without interferon alfa-2B (IFN alfa-2b), mediated tumor regression in stage IV melanoma patients.

In a previous study, researchers from the University of California/Mount Zion Cancer Center, California, demonstrated tumor regression in stage IV melanoma patients following vaccination with autologous tumor cells (ATCs) and recombinant human GM-CSF (rhGM-CSF) (SPL Leong et al., J of Immunotherapy, in press).
