Anti-mdr1 Ribozyme Reverses Drug Resistance

Gene transfer of an anti-mdr1 ribozyme specifically to tumor cells restored the chemosensitivity of multidrug-resistant colon-adenocarcinoma cells.

Z.Q. Gao and colleagues from the Thomas Jefferson University, Pennsylvania, explored anti-cancer gene therapy strategies. Results were published in a recent issue of the International Journal of Cancer ("Tumor-Specific Expression of Anti-mdr1 Ribozyme Selectively Restores Chemosensitivity in Multidrug-Resistant Colon-Adenocarcinoma Cells," International Journal of Cancer, July 30, 1999;82(3):346-352).
