"Levels of Corticosteroid-Binding Globulin mRNA in Human Ovarian Cancers."

According to an abstract submitted by the authors to the Sixth International Congress on Hormones and Cancer, held September 5-9, 1999, in Jerusalem, Israel, "Corticosteroid-binding globulin (CBG) is a plasma glycoprotein that binds steroid hormones such as corticosteroid and progesterone with relatively high affinity. Much evidence indicates that the CBG-steroid complex directly plays a role in intracellular steroidal actions in the target cells. CBG mRNA is expressed in human reproductive tissues, suggesting that CBG is synthesized in these tissues and modulates the intracellular steroidal actions.
