Immune Privilege in the Eye Can Be Bypassed Successfully

Tumor-specific, cytotoxic T lymphocyte (CTL)-mediated immunotherapy can bypass the immune privileged status of the anterior chamber of the eye and successfully prevent and eradicate tumors.

Luc R.H.M Schurmans and colleagues from Leiden University Medical Center, The Netherlands, and Loyola University of Chicago, Illinois, USA, sought to establish to what extent immune privilege interferes with T-cell-mediated antitumor immunotherapy.
