Growth Factors in Transfused Blood May Impact Survival

K. Werther of Denmark's Hvidovre University Hospital and colleagues studied the prognostic impact of perioperative blood transfusion on patients resected for primary colorectal carcinoma. They reported their research at the American Association of Blood Banks (AABB) 52nd Annual Meeting held November 6-10, 1999, in San Francisco, California, in a study titled "The Prognostic Impact of Perioperative Blood Transfusion to Patients Undergoing Resection of a Primary Colorectal Cancer."
