Pain Severity and Quality of Life Studied

Cancer patients' quality of life is reduced with increasing pain severity.

X. Wang, of the University of Texas, and associates investigated the relationship between 216 Chinese patients' pain severity and their self-reported quality of life.

They published their study in the journal, Cancer ("The Effects of Pain Severity on Health-Related Quality of Life - A Study of Chinese Cancer Patients," Cancer, November 1, 1999;86(9):1848-1855).
